Rethinking Work-Life Balance

A Breakdown Of The Idea Of Pursuing A Career And The Work-Life Balance Trap

Reasons why the idea of pursuing a career sucks:

There's actually only one reason, and that is:

Pursuing a career makes you think of earning a living and living your life as two separate paths. Hence, it weakens you and splits your worldview!

You then spend your entire life trying to find that balance between these two separate spaces in your mind. This process is commonly called work-life balance!

This is how they sell you the idea of work-life balance. A typical elevator pitch of this lousy idea, goes like this:

“Work-life balance is the equilibrium between professional responsibilities and personal well-being. It involves managing time and energy effectively to meet work demands while also prioritizing personal life, health, and leisure. Achieving a healthy work-life balance is essential for overall well-being, reducing stress, and fostering productivity in both professional and personal realms.”

Have you noticed anything there?

People talk about this as if it's self-evident, axiomatic, and that everybody is supposed to abide by it. But the truth is, you don't.

You have to be capable at any point in your life of evaluating your situation and taking a course of action to make things better for yourself.

For this, you need to have your critical thinking on point, not depleted by a boss or job that you hate.

You need to be sharp as hell, not on the brink of burning out.

The idea of a career makes you a slave to your past experiences and a slave to a defined set of companies and places to work, and worst of all, a slave of a salary!
